(Commercials on TV can be considered a necessary evil. So many are annoying, but every now and then one comes along that is the perfect combination of product, marketing, humor, and local culture. In my seven years here in Norway there have been several that have captured my attention. I thought it would be fun to occasionally share some of my favorites.)
A couple weeks ago I shared a commercial about hot dogs that gives a glimpse of the typical Norwegian life and activities.
Today’s is another one that gives a peek of life in Norway. Tine is Norway’s largest dairy product cooperative, and their dairy products are delicious! Thanks to my husband’s conversations and my observations, I know why: Around 90% of Norwegian farms are very small, and the cows are free range until the snow sets in. The grass is very slow growing and extremely nutritious … there’s a reason that Tine’s tagline is “Kanskje verdens fineste melk (Perhaps the world’s finest milk)”!
As with the Gilde commercial before, the voice over for this one is also in Norwegian … but the music and scenery don’t need any translation; this is Norwegian farming and living at its best.
