Although there was no way we could visit and experience all the London places we “could have” gone to, I have no second-guesses about what we missed.
But after getting home, I discovered two places I didn’t know about.
The first was through a friend I have ‘met’ virtually (isn’t the blogosphere wonderful?! I’ve corresponded with so many of you wonderful bloggers!). Megan is an American expat in London – we have so many similarities in our life’s history, including being military wives, teachers in our former lives, and Moms to adult children we are so very proud of (and miss so terribly much).
But we have one thing NOT in common: Megan likes her martini with gin, and I prefer vodka.
When we one day meet, this is what she promises: “Next time you’re in London, I’ll take you to Ian Fleming’s drinking haunt and we will have the world’s best martinis … They. are. exquisite.”
I will have mine shaken, not stirred. It’s a plan, Megan!
The other place I didn’t visit I discovered thanks to one of my daughter’s Army friends. I saw this Google Map location on his Facebook Wall after we got home. We were so close! One day I WILL add this to *my* Google map of travel adventures! (If you haven’t watched Dr. Who, this won’t mean as much for you.)
Here’s a screenshot from a different angle than the map … we also hope to see the musical advertised on the billboard, but that’s for another post …
